The major element in the Zirconium Bar and Rod (Zr) in the purity level of 99.5 to 99.9%. Impurities include Fe ≤ 0.15%, Cr ≤ 0.1%, Ni ≤ 0.1%, etc., and some traces of O and C. The metal possesses an excellent property for corrosion, which is ideal in aggressive surroundings like acids. Its mechanical properties are high tensile strength between 350 MPa and 900 MPa, good ductility, and excellent resistance to fatigue. In addition, it retains strength at elevated temperatures and has a low thermal neutron absorption cross-section.

Yes, Zirconium bars can be welded. It requires specialized techniques such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) to ensure good weld quality, as it is highly reactive at elevated temperatures.
To maintain zirconium rods, keep them clean and free of contaminants. Store in a dry, cool environment. Avoid mechanical damage and ensure proper handling to prevent oxidation or corrosion.
Zirconium bars are generally resistant to galvanic corrosion due to their high corrosion resistance properties. However, when paired with more reactive metals, galvanic corrosion may still occur.
Zirconium bar and rod alloys are highly valued across industries for their superior strength and excellent corrosion resistance. In the nuclear sector, they are primarily used as fuel cladding due to their exceptionally low neutron absorption properties. In chemical processing, their outstanding resistance to acids and alkalis makes them ideal for reactors, piping systems, and heat exchangers. The aerospace industry also benefits from zirconium alloys, utilizing them in components exposed to extreme temperatures and harsh conditions. In the medical field, zirconium is widely used for implants, as its biocompatibility minimizes the risk of rejection. Durable and resistant to corrosion, zirconium finds versatile applications across multiple advanced industries.
