Chung Metal offers Super Duplex Steel Bars and Rods in general (including grades such as S32750, S32760), with the dual advantage of high strength, superior resistance to corrosion, and toughness in a duplex microstructure. The “Super Duplex” group is developed to surpass the performance of normal duplex as well as austenitic stainless steels under mechanical, thermal, and environmental stress. Our bars/rods are supplied in different sections (hex, square, round), with accurate heat treatment and finishing to suit different industrial requirements. Such materials are relied on where high reliability and long life are the requirements.
Common super‑duplex composition involves 24‑26% chromium, 3‑5% molybdenum, ~6‑8% nickel, nitrogen in the ~0.20‑0.30% range, very low carbon (<0.03%), in addition to iron and controlled small quantities of manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur. Mechanical properties involve yield strength ~500‑600 MPa, tensile strength ~780‑900 MPa, elongation ~15‑25% by section size. Excellent toughness at low temperatures, high hardness for a stainless steel, good weldability, exceptional resistance to chloride induced corrosion and superior fatigue strength over normal stainless steels.

Super Duplex Steel rods are generally resistant to galvanic corrosion due to their high chromium and molybdenum content. However, they can still be susceptible when coupled with highly dissimilar metals in certain environments.
Yes, Super Duplex Steel bars can be welded using appropriate techniques and filler materials. Careful control of heat input and post-weld heat treatment is essential to avoid degradation of their mechanical properties.
Super Duplex Steel rods are available in various sizes, ranging from small diameters to large rods, typically up to 300mm or more. Finishes can include hot-rolled, cold-drawn, polished, or ground, depending on the application requirements.
Super Duplex Steel Bars/Rods are utilized in marine, offshore, oil & gas, chemical processing, desalination, and structural engineering applications. Some examples are pipelines, valves, flanges, fasteners, pump components, structural supports, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels subjected to corrosive media. They are particularly beneficial where chlorides, acidic conditions, or cyclic loading, or saltwater is present. The high strength enables lighter parts, which results in material and installation cost savings. The corrosion resistance minimizes maintenance, and hence these steels find application in long‑life infrastructure in hostile environments.
