These alloys consist of ~1.8–2.1% beryllium in copper with small amounts of alloy additions (e.g. cobalt, cobalt + nickel) to maximize properties. Ultimate tensile strength as high as 1,300–1,400 MPa in peak aged or heat treated condition; also yield strength is high. Hardness at peak tempers is high (frequently in higher Rockwell or Brinell ranges), although elongation is smaller in hardest tempers (but still satisfactory in moderate tempers). Electrical conductivity reduces slightly in hardened conditions (typ. ~20–30% IACS or higher, depending on temper). Density ~8.25–8.36 g/cm³. High fatigue strength, wear resistance, and stability under cyclic loading.
