Hastelloy C276 usually consists of nickel (~57%), chromium (~16‑17%), molybdenum (~15%), tungsten (~4%), iron and minor additions of carbon, cobalt, and other stabilizers. It is an austenitic alloy, non‑magnetic, and cannot normally be heat treated to increase its strength (strength derives from solid solution). Tensile strength of ~690 MPa, very good toughness, good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, ductility. Density ~8.8‑8.9 g/cm³. Melting range ~1325‑1370 °C.
