Chung Metal provides top-quality Invar 36 Bars and Rods from Da Nang, Vietnam, meeting the needs of industries that demand outstanding thermal stability. Invar 36 is a nickel-iron alloy with a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, produced for use where dimensional accuracy is paramount. Famed for being consistent across broad temperatures, Invar 36 finds extensive applications in tooling, aerospace, optics, and electronics. We produce and provide these bars to satisfy rigorous ASTM F1684 and other international standards, maintaining dimensional accuracy, narrow tolerances, and exquisite surface finish.
Invar 36 contains approximately 36% nickel and balance iron with very low carbon, manganese, and silicon. CTE is generally ~1.3 ×10⁻⁶/°C. It has tensile strength of ~520 MPa, yield strength ~240 MPa, and elongation of 30–40%. Density is roughly 8.1 g/cm³. Invar 36 is relatively tough and workable and can be cold-formed or hot-formed. Its mechanical properties remain stable over sub-zero to moderately high temperatures and are thus distinct from iron-based alloys.

Yes, Invar 36 bar and rod can be welded, but it requires special care due to its low expansion properties. Proper welding techniques, such as TIG or MIG, are recommended.
Yes, specific welding consumables for Invar 36 bar and rod include Invar 36 electrodes, TIG rods, and MIG wires. These materials ensure proper fusion and minimize thermal expansion issues during welding.
Invar 36 rod, primarily composed of iron and nickel, is not highly susceptible to galvanic corrosion. However, when exposed to more noble metals in corrosive environments, it can experience some galvanic effects.
Invar 36 bars and rods find application in aircraft control systems, lasers, space frames, composite tools, and cryogenic vessels. Application in measurement instruments and precision instruments guarantees consistency despite temperature changes. Invar 36 is also applied in optical and electronic components to ensure alignment and reduce thermal drift. It finds extensive application in aerospace composite tooling, semiconductor production, and LNG transportation systems. The stable dimensions of the alloy make it crucial in mission-dependent systems.
