Da Nang’s Chung Metal Manufacturer offers precision-crafted Invar Bars and Rods for severe applications that need little thermal expansion. Invar (nickel-iron alloy) is best designed for dimensional stability in varying temperatures. Manufactured within strict tolerances, our Invar bars fulfill global standards for performance in instrumentation, aerospace, and electronics. Perfect for metrology tools and cryogenic applications, our bars provide the best thermal stability. Chung Metal guarantees each rod is inspected for mechanical accuracy and composition, offering reliable solutions to scientific, defense, and industrial clients globally.
Invar is usually composed of ~64% iron and ~36% nickel. Its most characteristic attribute is its extreme thermal expansion coefficient (CTE ≈ 1.2 x10⁻⁶/°C between 20–100°C). Tensile strength is between 480 and 620 MPa, yield strength around 250 MPa, elongation approximately 30–35%. Density is approximately 8.1 g/cm³. The alloy is tough, machinable, and moderately ferromagnetic. It has good dimensional stability across a wide temperature range, for which it is suited in precision applications involving thermal cycling.

Yes, for Invar bar welding, specialized consumables like Invar welding rods, Invar electrodes, or Ni-based filler metals such as ERNi-1 or ERNiCrMo-3 are commonly used to ensure optimal bonding and minimize thermal expansion issues.
Yes, Invar bar and rod can be welded, typically using TIG or MIG welding techniques. However, it requires careful control of heat to avoid distortion due to its low expansion properties.
Invar rods, primarily composed of iron and nickel, are generally resistant to galvanic corrosion. However, when paired with more reactive metals, they may experience corrosion if exposed to electrolyte solutions.
Invar rods and bars have a wide range of applications in precision instruments, clock parts, radio/TV shadow masks, seismic detectors, measuring instruments, and cryogenic equipment. For its low thermal expansion, it’s the best choice for tooling, dies, molds, and structural parts subject to varying temperatures. Aerospace and satellite systems take advantage of Invar to keep parts aligned in space. Composite tooling for aircraft production also employs it. Its temperature coefficient stability in dimensions renders it invaluable in metrology and calibration laboratories.
