Chung Metal offers Super Duplex Steel S32760 Bars and Rods, an advance in super‑duplex metallurgy with improved corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. S32760 is meant to function in more hostile corrosive environments, providing greater resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in chloride‑enriched environments. They are manufactured through solution treatment, accompanied by accurate machining or finishing. The homogeneous microstructure provides consistent performance, making them ideal for severe structural and chemical service where prolonged service life under harsh conditions is required.
The alloy S32760 contains ~24‑26% Cr, ~3‑4% Mo, ~6‑8% Ni, nitrogen ~0.20‑0.30%, carbon <0.03%, with iron, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur being tightly controlled. It has approximately 7.8 g/cm³ density. Its mechanical performance is characterized by yield strength (0.2% offset) approximately 550‑600 MPa, tensile strength approximately 800‑900 MPa, elongation in the range of 15‑25% depending on the cross section. Good toughness and strength even at sub-zero temperatures; high resistance to chloride induced corrosion and good hardness relative to other stainless steels.

Super Duplex Steel S32760 rods are highly resistant to galvanic corrosion due to their excellent corrosion resistance properties. However, if exposed to highly aggressive environments, the risk may increase when coupled with more anodic metals.
S32760 bars/rods are employed in highly aggressive offshore environments (deepwater platforms, subsea connectors), chemical processing equipment for the handling of chloride or sulfuric acid, desalination plants, marine exhaust systems, pump shafts, and structural support members subject to salt spray. They are usually selected for the replacement of common stainless in harsher environments, particularly where environmental regulations require long life and minimum maintenance. Also utilized in acid piping, heat exchangers, valves, flanges, and fasteners that need to withstand pitting and cracking over time.
