EN-44 has 0.40–0.50% carbon, 0.60–0.90% manganese, and 0.60–0.90% chromium and very minor silicon and molybdenum content. It possesses excellent wear and impact toughness once quenched and tempered, appropriate for medium-duty mechanical applications.
