P20 tool steel generally contains ~0.28–0.40% carbon, ~1.50% chromium, ~0.40% molybdenum, with manganese, silicon, and vanadium. It is delivered pre-hardened condition (~30–32 HRC). Tensile strength is ~1,000–1,200 MPa, yield ~800 MPa, with elongation ~12–15%. Hardness, after final heat treatment, can be up to ~50–55 HRC. It has good toughness, good dimensional stability, and is well applicable for high-volume mold manufacturing. Machinability and polishability are good in its delivered condition.
