Chung Metal Manufacturer & Suppliers in Da Nang supplies top-grade S1 tool & die steel bars appropriate for shock-loaded tooling requirements. S1 is oil-hardening impact-resistant tool steel. Our S1 bars are made under strict controls for inclusions and dimension, and shipped with complete certifications. We maintain consistent microstructure and stress relief to reduce distortion on heat treat. Tool shops, die, and stamping depend on our S1 stock for tools that need very good toughness and shock resistance under cyclic impact loading.
Tool steel S1 has ~0.45–0.55% carbon, ~0.40% silicon, ~0.40% manganese, ~0.25% chromium, and tungsten/carbon stabilizers, the balance cobalt or tungsten in some forms. In annealed condition, tensile strength ~700 MPa, elongation ~10–15%. Following oil hardening and tempering, S1 has hardness ~58–62 HRC, with good toughness and impact resistance. The alloy has good wear resistance and long performance in shock. It is resistant to cracking by impact and maintains hardness fairly well in the longer term.

When choosing Tool and Die Steel S1 bars, consider hardness, wear resistance, toughness, machinability, heat treatment capabilities, and the specific requirements of the application to ensure optimal performance and durability.
Tool and Die Steel S1 bars resist corrosion due to their alloy composition, which includes elements like chromium and molybdenum. These elements form a protective oxide layer, enhancing resistance to oxidation and rust.
Tool and Die Steel S1 bars should be stored in a dry, clean environment, away from moisture and chemicals. Use racks to prevent contact with the ground and minimize risk of rusting or damage.
S1 bars are best suited for blanking punches, impact tools, cold chisels, hammering dies, and skewed cutting applications that withstand shock loads. It is employed in forging dies, high-shock stamping tools, ejector pins, and tools in heavy mechanical presses. The synergy of toughness and hardness makes it an appropriate choice for shearing, blanking, and cold forming under adverse conditions. S1 is used when there is a lot of frequent shock and impact stress and other steels are subject to brittle fracture. It’s commonly applied in tooling of medium duty when there is repeated loading.
