Chung Metal supplies T1 high speed steel bars, one of the most common tool steel grades that finds extensive use in cutting as well as tooling operations. With reliable performance and affordability, T1 bars are supplied with standardized heat treatment and certification from our Da Nang plant. Tool shops and production units utilize our T1 stock as a tried and tested baseline for general-purpose cutting tool fabrication.
HSS T1 is generally made of ~0.7–0.9% carbon, tungsten, molybdenum, chromium, and vanadium in reasonable quantities. It can achieve hardness of ~62–64 HRC after proper tempering and quenching. It has good wear resistance and toughness but less red hardness compared to cobalt grades. It strikes a balance between hardness and machinability, ideal for a variety of cutting operations.

Yes, High-Speed Steel T1 bars can be welded, but it requires specialized techniques like preheating and post-weld heat treatment to prevent cracking and maintain their hardness and strength properties.
High-Speed Steel T1 bars resist corrosion due to the presence of chromium, which forms a protective oxide layer on the surface. This enhances their resistance to moisture and chemical wear, prolonging tool life.
Applied to general-purpose cutting tools: taps, drills, reamers, milling cutters, tool bits, and older type manufacturing tooling. Best used to machine mild and moderately hard material. Also employed in form, punch, and shaping tools where performance criteria are medium but consistent hardness is required. T1 is a first choice steel when performance criteria are good but not exceptional.
