Chung Metal distributes Nitronic XM-19 Bars and Rods from their Da Nang, Vietnam production plant. Also referred to as Nitronic 50, XM-19 is an austenitic stainless steel with high performance that delivers superior strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance. XM-19 is non-magnetic even after cold working and outperforms both 316 and 317 stainless steels. Chung Metal manufactures XM-19 in a range of diameters and shapes to meet several important industrial uses in marine, chemical, and energy industries.
XM-19 contains 20.5–23.5% chromium, 11.5–13.5% nickel, 1.5–3% molybdenum, and 0.20–0.40% nitrogen. In the annealed state, it provides tensile strength up to 900 MPa and yield strength close to 500 MPa with elongation greater than 35%. In strain-hardened state, strength values are much higher. The alloy continues to be non-magnetic, provides superior resistance against pitting, and retains toughness over a broad range of temperatures.
