Chung Metal supplies Inconel 686 Rods and Bars, a nickel-chromium superalloy designed for superior alumina scale adhesion and high temperature corrosion resistance in oxidizing, cyclic, and sulfurous environments. Alloy 686 is normally employed where there is a need for high cyclic oxidation resistance at elevated temperature. Our 686 rods/bars are made to exhibit stable behavior during thermal cycling, hot corrosion resistance, and good mechanical strength.
Typical composition: high nickel (~60‑65%), high chromium (~22‑24%), with additions of aluminum (~1‑2%), and perhaps trace additions of iron, cobalt, copper, silicon, etc. Tensile strength in annealed or as‑cold‑worked state can be ~600‑800 MPa depending on temper; yield somewhat lower; elongation moderate. The alloy exhibits superior resistance to oxidation, particularly cyclic, and good stability in high temperature S‑bearing or sulfurous atmospheres. Good thermal fatigue resistance.

Yes, Inconel 686 Bars/Rods are designed to perform exceptionally well in high-temperature environments up to 980°C.
Yes, Inconel 686 bars/rods are weldable using standard techniques, but preheating and specialized filler materials are recommended to ensure strong, corrosion-resistant welds.
Yes, we provide bars and rods in standard and customized dimensions and polishes to meet your specific project requirements. For more details mail us on sales@chungmetal.com
Applied in turbine parts subjected to hot gas, burner components, furnace hardware, exhaust system liners, and other uses where cyclic oxidation or hot corrosion (sulfur, salts) is an issue. Also in aerospace, industrial furnace heating, chemical equipment subjected to high‑temperature oxidizing and sulfidizing conditions. Particularly suited for parts that undergo frequent temperature cycling and where stability of protective oxide scale is critical.

We provide products that come with both mill test certificates and third-party test certificates, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
