Inconel 690 Bars and Rods by Chung Metal is a nickel-chromium alloy that is specifically developed for high corrosion resistance, particularly in oxidizing conditions and for nuclear steam generator tubing. Alloy 690 has excellent corrosion resistance against stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and intergranular attack in high purity, high temperature water and severe chemical environments. Our 690 rods/bars are manufactured with clean chemistry, quality control, and finishing to provide service in highly corrosive and severe conditions.
General composition: ~59‑63% nickel, ~27‑31% chromium, traces of iron, copper, manganese, silicon, carbon. Tensile strength in annealed or solution treated condition might be ~550‑700 MPa dependent upon temper and section; yield strength lower; elongation fair (~30‑50%) for forgings or rod section. Good resistance to oxidation and scaling at modest high temperatures (up to ~900‑1000 °C in most environments). Good weldability and toughness.

Inconel 690 bars and rods are primarily used in high-temperature and high-pressure environments, including power plants, chemical processing, and nuclear reactors, due to their excellent resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
Yes, Inconel 686 bars/rods offer excellent resistance to strong acids like sulfuric, hydrochloric, and phosphoric acids, making them ideal for highly corrosive applications.
Applied in nuclear steam generator tubing, heat exchangers, chemical process equipment, boiler components, piping and valves where corrosive aggressive service is present (oxidizing acids, high purity water, chlorides). Applied in power plant equipment, condenser equipment, exhaust systems. Where corrosion and high temperature oxidation resistance is necessary rather than mechanical strength.

We provide products that come with both mill test certificates and third-party test certificates, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
