Chung Metal supplies Haynes 6B Bars and Rods, a cobalt-base alloy with superior wear properties, toughness, and satisfactory performance at high temperatures. Haynes 6B is utilized extensively in high abrasion, galling, or sliding contacts under conditions of heat. Our production of 6B bars/rods ensures accurate dimensions, superior surface finish, and uniform mechanical properties. This alloy is generally utilized in applications where mechanical wear and high temperature simultaneously coexist, like some components in aerospace, industrial, or chemical applications.
Haynes 6B is a cobalt alloy (cobalt as major component) with large percentages of chromium (for corrosion / oxidation resistance), moderate carbon for wear resistance, possibly tungsten or molybdenum additions for strength, and other alloying elements for hardening and thermal stability. Its room-temperature tensile strength typically approaches ~900‑1100 MPa for hardened/wrought conditions; yield strength lower, elongation moderate (typically ~10‑30%) depending on temper. Hardness is very high in hardened form. The alloy is resistant to wear and heat damage, retaining strength at higher temperature and under sliding or abrasive stress.
Yes, Haynes 6B rods can be customized in size and length according to specific requirements. Customization options depend on the manufacturer or supplier's capabilities and client needs.
To maintain Haynes 6B bars, store them in a dry, clean environment. Regularly inspect for surface damage or corrosion. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and ensure proper handling during fabrication.
Haynes 6B bars and rods perform exceptionally well in high-temperature environments, offering excellent strength, oxidation resistance, and stability at temperatures up to 2200°F (1200°C), making them ideal for extreme conditions.
6B Bars and Rods are employed where high mechanical stress under temperature, abrasion, or sliding wear are essential: i.e., valve seats, pump components, bearings, or wear surfaces used under high heat. Also aerospace or industrial turbine components where the parts are exposed to hot erosive gas streams or particulate. Good for parts that cannot be effectively lubricated and need to be resistant to galling. Also used in tooling, dies or inserts for high-temperature shaping, or surfaces experiencing repeated impact or abrasion.
