Chung Metal is a provider of Haynes HR-120 Bars and Rods to various industries with demands for greater oxidation resistance and strength with structural integrity at elevated temperatures. HR-120 is a solid-solution strengthened, fully austenitic alloy created to serve in thermal processing, industrial heat treating, and metallurgical processes. Complimented by excellent strength and grain boundary embrittlement resistance, HR-120 operates under constant and cyclic thermal exposure effectively. Produced with exact control of chemical makeup and surface finish, our HR-120 products exceed the exacting demands of global customers in power generation and refining applications.
Haynes HR-120 usually has ~37% iron, ~32% nickel, ~25% chromium, and additions of tungsten, molybdenum, and minor carbon, manganese, and silicon. It has high creep rupture strength, with tensile strength higher than 700 MPa at ambient and good strength retention to 1100°C. The density is approximately 7.9 g/cm³. The alloy has low thermal expansion, good oxidation resistance, and good formability. It’s also resistant to carburizing and sulfidizing atmospheres and can be used in furnace and heat-treat applications.
The most common diameters for Haynes HR-120 rods typically range from 6 mm (0.25 inch) to 50 mm (2 inches), depending on the application and manufacturer specifications.
Haynes HR-120 rods are typically available in diameters ranging from 3 mm (0.12 inches) to 100 mm (3.94 inches), catering to various industrial applications. Custom sizes may also be available.
To maintain HR-120 bars, regularly clean them with a mild detergent, avoid corrosive environments, inspect for damage, apply anti-corrosion coatings if needed, and store in a dry, controlled environment.
Haynes HR-120 bars and rods are extensively applied in high-temperature furnace components, muffles, radiant tubes, thermal shields, and kiln components. In the petrochemical sector, it’s applied for reactor internals, fired heater parts, and reformers. Its elevated strength at temperature also find application in superheater tubes, expansion joints, and burner cans. It’s utilized by foundries and steel processing mills for hardware for conveying and support in hot areas. HR-120 performs well both in static and cyclic thermal service, with long life and structural integrity under intense heating cycles.

We provide products that come with both mill test certificates and third-party test certificates, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
