Chung Metal provides Stainless Steel 316L forgings, the low-carbon version of 316 which is resistant to intergranular corrosion after welding. Our 316L forgings are made to exacting quality and certification requirements, with polished microstructure and mechanical integrity. Food, pharmaceutical, marine, and chemical process industries depend on 316L forgings for components that need to remain corrosion-resistant while being welded or exposed to hostile environments.
SS 316L has ~16–18% Cr, ~10–14% Ni, ~2–3% Mo, carbon ≤ 0.03%. Mechanical properties: tensile ~485–690 MPa, yield ~170–275 MPa, elongation ~40%. Hardness moderate. Low carbon content inhibits carbide precipitation in heat-affected zone. Toughness improved, uniform strength, and structural integrity enhanced in forgings.
