SS 316 has 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. It provides tensile strength of 515–700 MPa, yield strength of 200–300 MPa, and elongation of 40%. Not magnetic and very corrosion-resistant, particularly against chlorides and acidic media. The flat bar form gives structural strength and simple fabrication.
