Chung Metal produces corrosion- and heat-resistant Stainless Steel 321 Flat Bars, a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel intended to avoid intergranular corrosion following welding. SS 321 is suitable for use in high-temperature service and welded equipment. 321 flat bar profile is extensively employed in support bases, flanges, expansion joints, and architectural elements. Chung Metal guarantees dimensional accuracy, consistent quality, and surface finish of all 321 flat bars, which meet the performance requirements of aerospace, chemical processing, and power generation industries.
SS 321 has 17–19% chromium, 9–13% nickel, and titanium stabilization (5x carbon content). It provides tensile strength of 550–750 MPa, yield strength of 200–300 MPa, and elongation of 40%. It is highly reliable up to 870°C, shows resistance to oxidation and corrosion, and retains weldability. The ease of fabrication and installation is provided by the flat bar form.

The primary alloying element in Stainless Steel 321 is chromium, typically comprising around 17-19%. Chromium provides corrosion resistance, while titanium is added to improve high-temperature stability and prevent carbide precipitation during welding or prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.
Stainless Steel 321 is most suitable for temperatures ranging from 800°F to 1500°F (427°C to 815°C). It excels in high-temperature environments due to its titanium stabilization, which prevents carbide precipitation and maintains corrosion resistance under prolonged heat exposure.
Typical dimensions of Stainless Steel 321 flat bars vary, with widths ranging from 20 mm to 150 mm, thicknesses between 3 mm and 50 mm, and lengths up to 6 meters, customizable based on specific requirements.
321 flat bars find application in thermal processing units, aircraft exhaust manifolds, welded heat exchangers, bellows, and chemical plants. Their titanium stabilization eliminates weld decay, thus being well-suited for furnace components, combustion chambers, and periodic heating applications. The flat bar configuration is appropriate for structural supports, pipe flanges, and thermal shields. SS 321 finds use in aerospace, oil & gas, and marine engineering industries. 321 flat bars in different sizes with mill, brush, or custom polish finishes are provided by Chung Metal.
