Chung Metal offers top-grade Stainless Steel 347 Flat Bars, which are suitable to be utilized in high-temperature and corrosion-prone conditions. SS 347 is a niobium stabilized austenitic stainless steel with superior resistance against intergranular corrosion even in welded conditions. The flat bars are applied to the structural support, thermal barriers, and assemblies that are welded. Chung Metal produces SS 347 flat bars with smooth finishes and tight tolerances for optimal performance in fabrication and industrial processing. The bars are highly successful in thermal cycling conditions in power plants, chemical plants, and aerospace systems.
SS 347 contains 17–19% chromium and 9–13% nickel and niobium stabilization to avoid carbide formation. Carbon is ≤ 0.08%. It provides tensile strength 550–750 MPa, yield strength 200–300 MPa, and elongation 35–45%. It is non-magnetic and possesses mechanical properties at high temperature. The flat form provides high strength and can be easily fabricated in welded structures. Chung Metal provides SS 347 flat bars in lengths and widths that are designed to suit thermal and corrosive environments.

The primary alloying element in Stainless Steel 347 is niobium (Nb), which stabilizes the material against carbide precipitation during welding and high-temperature exposure. This enhances its resistance to intergranular corrosion and improves its overall high-temperature strength.
Stainless Steel 347 is most suitable for applications in the temperature range of 800°C to 1500°F (427°C to 815°C). This range allows it to maintain its strength, corrosion resistance, and stability, particularly in high-temperature environments like furnaces.
Typical dimensions of a Stainless Steel 347 flat bar range from 0.25 inches (6 mm) to 6 inches (150 mm) in thickness and 1 inch (25 mm) to 12 inches (300 mm) in width. Custom sizes are also available.
347 flat bars are utilized in heat exchangers, furnace components, welded piping assemblies, flanges, expansion joints, and aerospace components. Their immunity from intergranular corrosion renders them ideal for chemical plants, pressure vessels, and welded assemblies subject to high temperature levels. They can be easily machined and welded into plates, supports, and thermal shields due to their flat configuration. SS 347 works effectively under thermal fatigue and stress. Chung Metal supplies such bars for extended service in refineries, sea processing, power generation, and fabricated process equipment.
