SS 317L has 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, 3–4% molybdenum, and up to 0.03% carbon. It offers tensile strength of 480–700 MPa, yield strength of 170–300 MPa, and elongation over 40%. It is not magnetic and is resistant to crevice corrosion, pitting, and acidic attack. The rectangular bar is best suited for welded and flat structures in harsh industrial environments.
