SS 321 is 17–19% chromium, 9–12% nickel, and titanium-stabilized. It has ≤ 0.08% carbon content. It offers tensile strength of 500–700 MPa, yield strength of 200–300 MPa, and elongation of 35–45%. It is suitable for conditions up to 870°C, particularly in heat-cycled or welded conditions. It is non-magnetic, weldable, and has resistance against intergranular corrosion. The square shape is ideal for conditions that require flat mounting surfaces, stiffness, and machinability in precision-fabricated components.
