Chung Metal Stainless Steel 446 square bars/rods are high-temperature resistant components of robust construction manufactured in Da Nang, Vietnam, for repeated usage under high temperatures and corrosive atmospheres. SS 446 with a square cross-section provides high strength and resistance to oxidation along with dimensional stability. Uniform grain structure and less warpage during thermal cycling are guaranteed through our process of manufacture. These square rods/bars are best used in structural and industrial applications where flatness, geometric consistency, and superior thermal performance are demanded. Chung Metal supplies these in polished or mill finish, in accordance with customer requirements for industrial, architectural, or mechanical uses.
Similar to other 446 products, square bars consist of high chromium (23‑27 %), low carbon (<0.20 %), minimal or no nickel, and silicon and manganese additions. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of ~450‑650 MPa, yield strength ~200‑350 MPa, and elongation of about 20‑25 %. Hardness (HB) usually between 150‑250 based on thermal history. Oxidation resistance is good up to temperatures of ~800‑900 °C. Rigidity is enhanced and machining and fitting facilitated due to the square profile over round rods while still enjoying the same metallurgical advantages as round SS 446.

Yes, Stainless Steel 446 Square Bars are highly corrosion-resistant due to their high chromium content. They are particularly effective in resisting oxidation and scaling at elevated temperatures.
Yes, Stainless Steel 446 square bars can be welded using appropriate welding techniques like TIG or MIG welding. However, preheating and post-weld heat treatment may be required to minimize the risk of cracking and maintain structural integrity.
Yes, we provide stainless steel 446 square bars and rods in standard and customized dimensions and polishes to meet your specific project requirements. For more details mail us on sales@chungmetal.com
SS 446 square bars/rods find application in structural frames, support members, architectural trim in high‑temperature or highly corrosive service, furnace supports, grating frames, and industrial heat treating equipment. Also applications in marine exhaust systems, chimney or duct supports, and parts exposed to hot flue gases. Square form is desirable where flat mounting surfaces are desired, or where alignment and welding must be done. In petrochemical facilities, they may be utilized for brackets, supports, or mounting structures that undergo heat, oxidation, and potentially exposure to corrosive chemicals such as chlorides or sulphur.

We provide products that come with both mill test certificates and third-party test certificates, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
