AISI 8620 is a nickel‑chromium‑molybdenum alloy steel containing ~0.18–0.23% C, 0.40% Mo, 0.40% Cr, 0.70–0.90% Ni, Mn, Si, S, and P. In normalized state, tensile strength ~585 MPa, yield ~355 MPa, elongation ~22%. Surface hardness can be 58–60 HRC after carburizing and quenching, but the core has toughness (~320–450 HB). The alloy provides very good case hardness, fatigue strength, and impact resistance. It can be easily machined in annealed or normalized forms.
