Chung Metal manufactures Alloy Steel F2 Bars and Rods for intermediate to high service temperature requirements. F2 steels are applied where creep strength and high temperature properties need to be improved over base steels but where highly alloyed steels are not economically justified. We manufacture F2 bars with specification-controlled alloy levels, heat treatment, and inspection. The power generation, petrochemical, and manufacturing industries use F2 for items like turbines, boilers, and support structures. Chung Metal supplies F2 rods in several geometries and finishes to accommodate fabrication requirements.
F2 alloy steels will contain chromium, molybdenum, perhaps small percentages of vanadium or stabilizing agents. They will have tensile strength in the order of ~550‑700 MPa, yield ~350‑500 MPa, and elongation ~15‑25%, depending on heat treatment. Hardness moderate to good after normalizing and tempering. Elevated temperature strength (creep) superior to simple alloy steels, potentially service up to ~500‑600°C. Toughness and weldability satisfactory with proper technique. Residual stress control critical for performance.

They are used in high-temperature applications like pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and boilers, primarily in power generation and aerospace industries.
The combination of Chromium, Molybdenum, and Carbon enhances its resistance to oxidation and high-temperature degradation.
They offer a tensile strength of 600-850 MPa and a yield strength of 450 MPa, ensuring durability and performance in demanding conditions.
F2 Bars/Rods are used in re-heater pipes, moderately high temperature structural components, and pressure vessel components where high strength and thermal stability are needed. Also utilized in headers of power plants, turbine casings, and chemical plant process equipment. F2 is useful in mechanical assemblies that undergo heat cycling or changing loads. Utilized in making frames and supports in high temperature areas. Where more aggressive alloys (F91, F92) are not required but simpler alloys are insufficient, F2 is commonly specified.
