Chung Metal produces precision-made Stainless Steel 420 Hex Bars, suited for wear-resistant and high-strength applications. SS 420 is a heat-treatable martensitic stainless steel that offers superior toughness and durability. The hex shape enables effortless wrenching and improved torque transmission in mechanical applications. Chung Metal offers 420 hex bars with close dimensional control, clean cut edges, and excellent machinability. The bars are widely applied in tool making, mechanical components, and industrial assemblies where hardness, strength, and average corrosion resistance are required.
SS 420 has 12–14% chromium and 0.15–0.40% carbon and contains trace amounts of manganese and silicon. The material can be hardened up to 50 HRC following heat treatment. Tensile strength is 700–1100 MPa, and yield strength is approximately 500–700 MPa. Elongation is about 10–20%. The alloy is ferromagnetic and polishable and machinable. Hexagonal shape provides better gripping during assembly, which is best for parts such as fasteners and shafts. Chung Metal supplies these bars in sizes and heat-treated states custom-designed for mechanical performance.

SS 420 stainless steel is a martensitic grade known for its high strength, hardness, and moderate corrosion resistance. Its ability to be heat-treated enhances these properties, making it ideal for Hex Bar applications requiring durability, wear resistance, and precise machining.
The Hex Bar shape offers improved grip, stability, and easier alignment during machining or fabrication. It reduces rotation and slippage, allowing for more accurate cuts and efficient handling, especially when working with the hard, durable SS 420 stainless steel.
SS 420 Hex Bars are commonly used in applications requiring high wear resistance, such as shafts, valves, and tools. Its ability to be heat-treated for superior hardness and strength makes it ideal for demanding environments compared to other stainless steel grades.
420 hex bars have extensive applications in cutlery, surgical tools, fasteners, shafts, valve parts, molds, and machine components. They are suitable for wear-resistant tooling and mechanical components due to their high hardness and strength when heat-treated. The hex structure eases fabrication and mounting in mechanical couplings, coupling parts, and precision-machined assemblies. They also find applications in automotive components, gear shafts, and lock mechanisms. Chung Metal supplies SS 420 hex bars with precision dimensions for demanding applications in industries where both strength and moderate corrosion resistance are needed.
