As a low-carbon and high-molybdenum austenitic alloy, 317L has enhanced resistance to chemical attack over 316L. Made in Da Nang, Vietnam, our 317L hex bars find application in chemical, pharmaceutical, and pulp & paper industries. 317L has 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, 3–4% molybdenum, and carbon ≤ 0.03%. It has tensile strength of 500–620 MPa, yield strength of 170–275 MPa, and elongation ≥ 40%. The alloy is non-magnetic, possesses very good formability, and resists pitting and crevice corrosion in chlorides and acids.

SS 317L Hex Bars/Rods typically range from 6 mm to 100 mm in diameter, with lengths up to 6 meters. Tolerances generally conform to ±0.5 mm for diameter. These dimensions and tolerances ensure precision for machining, making them ideal for applications requiring high strength, corrosion resistance, and tight fit.
The high chromium (18-20%) and molybdenum (3-4%) content in SS 317L enhances its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion by forming a passive oxide layer that protects against chloride-induced degradation. The low carbon content further reduces the risk of stress corrosion cracking, ensuring durability in harsh chloride environments.
