Chung Metal provides Stainless Steel 303 Hex Bars and Rods with their outstanding machinability and non-galling properties. Our 303 hex bars, manufactured in Da Nang, Vietnam, are best suited for precision parts and CNC machining applications. Austenitic stainless steel for machining is best provided by grade 303, which is a sulfur-plated variant of grade 304 for improved machinability. Chung Metal offers consistent surface finish, precise dimensions, and international specifications.
17–19% chromium, 8–10% nickel, and 0.15–0.35% sulfur are present in 303, making it more machinable. It provides tensile strength of 500–750 MPa, yield strength of ~190–210 MPa, and elongation of ~40%. It is not magnetic when in the annealed condition and provides good resistance to corrosion in mild environments.

Stainless Steel 303 offers excellent machinability due to sulfur addition, good corrosion resistance, high toughness, and decent strength. It's ideal for precision machining, retaining mechanical properties while being easily cut.
Stainless Steel 303 has superior machinability due to added sulfur but slightly reduced corrosion resistance compared to 304 or 316. It balances easy machining with moderate corrosion resistance for non-critical environments.
Common finishes for Stainless Steel 303 hex bars/rods include polished, brushed, and matte finishes. Treatments like passivation improve corrosion resistance, while electropolishing enhances durability and appearance. Protective coatings and bead blasting offer additional surface refinement options.
303 hex bars are mostly employed in applications that involve a lot of machining, like shafts, bolts, gears, bushings, and precision fasteners. It is utilized by industries like aerospace, automation, and instrumentation for making precision-turned parts. It can’t be used in marine or high-chloride exposures owing to its lower corrosion resistance than 304.
