Chung Metal produces and distributes Stainless Steel 310S Hex Bars and Rods from its plant located in Da Nang, Vietnam, to industries demanding the best high-temperature corrosion resistance. Grade 310S is the low-carbon modification of stainless steel 310, having superior weldability and good resistance to oxidation at temperatures up to 1150°C. Our hex bars, precision-forged for faster and stronger fasteners, furnace fixtures, and structural supports for thermal conditions, boast tight tolerances and high-quality finishing to provide Chung Metal reliability and consistency in each batch.
310S has 24–26% chromium, 19–22% nickel, and ≤ 0.08% carbon. Tensile strength is between 520–750 MPa, yield strength approximately 205 MPa, and elongation ~40%. It has good creep resistance and oxidation resistance under steady-state service. The low carbon level reduces carbide precipitation on welding.

SS 310S hex bars/rods are primarily used in high-temperature applications, such as furnace components, heat exchangers, and petrochemical industries. They are also employed in the manufacturing of furnace parts, chimney liners, catalytic reactors, and welding electrodes due to their excellent oxidation, corrosion resistance, and strength at elevated temperatures.
SS 310S offers superior corrosion resistance compared to many other stainless steel grades, especially at high temperatures, due to its higher chromium and nickel content. It excels in resisting oxidation and scaling at temperatures up to 1100°C (2012°F), making it more heat-resistant than grades like SS 304 or SS 316.
Common manufacturing processes for SS 310S hex bars/rods include hot rolling, cold drawing, and extrusion. These methods shape the alloy into hexagonal rods while maintaining its mechanical properties. Heat treatment processes like annealing are also used to enhance corrosion resistance and improve the material's strength and ductility.
310S hex bars are employed in applications at elevated temperatures like furnace components, burners, kiln parts, heat treatment baskets, and boiler support. The metallurgy, chemical processing, and energy industries count on this alloy due to its thermal resistance and corrosion resistance. It is also applied to incinerators and components in refineries exposed to oxidizing gases.
