Chung Metal’s Stainless Steel 446 hex bars are designed in Da Nang to deliver temperature resistance in six‑sided shape for components requiring grip, torque, or flat surface interaction. Based on SS 446’s usual ferritic composition, these hex bars provide consistent output under heat and oxidative stress. Made with precision, the edges are sharply defined, surface finish is perfect, and internal microstructure is stable. These are utilized where hex flats are needed in installation, fastening, or assembly for structure, especially in heat, corrosion, or atmosphere exposure conditions.
SS 446 hex bars contain 23‑27 % chromium, minimal nickel, low carbon (<0.20 %), and small amounts of silicon, manganese, and possibly aluminum or rare earths for resistance to oxidation. Tensile strength ∼450‑650 MPa; yield strength ~200‑350 MPa; elongation ~20‑25 %. Hardness between ~150‑250 HB depending on processing. Stable at high temperatures; good resistance to sulphidation and scale formation. Good resistance to stress rupture. Low thermal expansion and good conductivity due to ferritic nature, compared to austenitics, but slightly reduced toughness.

SS 446 Hex Bars offer excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability, making them ideal for harsh industrial environments. Their resistance to oxidation and high-temperature stability ensure reliability in applications like heat exchangers, chemical processing, and petrochemical industries.
SS 446 Hex Bar has superior high-temperature strength and excellent resistance to oxidation compared to other stainless steel alloys like SS 304 or SS 316. Its enhanced durability and corrosion resistance make it ideal for high-stress environments, such as heat exchangers, where other alloys may degrade or weaken over time.
Common machining techniques for SS 446 Hex Bars include turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. Challenges include its high hardness and tendency to work-harden, which can lead to tool wear. Proper lubrication and slower cutting speeds are necessary to maintain tool life and achieve smooth, accurate finishes.
SS 446 hex bars are applied to fasteners exposed to high temperatures, bolts, nuts, flanges, and structural fixtures in heat or oxidizing atmospheres. Typical in furnace assembly, burner parts, chimney fasteners, and high‑temperature supports. Also in marine exhaust systems, industrial plants with sulphur or chlorine exposure at high temperatures. Hex shape provides wrenching and clamping in assemblies. Ideal for mountings of heat exchangers, steam pipe brackets, or other use where flat wrenching surfaces, thermal resistance, and oxidation resistance are needed.
