Chung Metal provides top-of-the-line Stainless Steel 420 Hollow Bars for demanding applications calling for high hardness and average corrosion resistance. Our Da Nang, Vietnam-produced 420 hollow bars are made under strict quality control and available in different sizes and lengths to satisfy customer requirements. This martensitic stainless steel grade is heat-treated hardened and thus can be applied in wear-resistant applications. With our processing capacity in-house and quality control measures, Chung Metal guarantees consistent supply and performance of Stainless Steel 420 Hollow Bars for various industrial applications.
Stainless Steel 420 Hollow Bars consist of 12–14% chromium and 0.15–0.40% carbon with low nickel content. Such a composition provides excellent hardness in the heat-treated condition. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of up to 700 MPa (annealed) and more than 900 MPa (hardened), yield strength of about 400 MPa, and hardness of up to 50 HRC. It possesses moderate corrosion resistance in mild environments and good ductility when annealed. The grade is magnetic and can be machined, hardened, and tempered to develop desired properties for a particular use.

SS 420 hollow bars are commonly used in industries like medical, cutlery, and tooling due to their high hardness and corrosion resistance. They are also utilized in pump shafts, valve components, and marine applications requiring strength and durability.
SS 420 hollow bars' excellent wear resistance enhances their performance by ensuring durability in high-friction environments. This property makes them ideal for cutting tools, medical instruments, and mechanical components, reducing maintenance needs and extending service life in demanding applications.
SS 420 hollow bars offer moderate high-temperature resistance but are generally not ideal for prolonged exposure to extreme heat. Their performance is best in applications requiring hardness and corrosion resistance under controlled or moderately elevated temperature conditions.
Stainless Steel 420 Hollow Bars have widespread applications where strength, wear resistance, and protection against moderate corrosion are required. Applications range from knife blades, surgical tools, pump shafts, valve components, scissors, molds, and fasteners. 420 hollow bars in the oil & gas and petrochemical sectors are applied to components that are exposed to moderate corrosive environments but demand high strength and hardness. Moreover, it is used in preference during the manufacture of mechanical components that have exposure to friction, i.e., bushings and gears. Its machinability and cost-effectiveness provide it with the potential for mass manufacturing.
