It has superior pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion resistance in chloride and sulfuric acid surroundings. The mechanical properties are generally tensile strength ~500‑700 MPa, yield strength about ~200‑350 MPa, elongation ~35‑45%, and hardness moderate. The weight is minimized with the hollow (tubular) shape while structural stability is retained. Weldability is excellent with proper procedures; corrosion performance is outstanding.
