Chung Metal manufactures economical Stainless Steel 430 Hollow Bars, a ferritic stainless steel with good corrosion resistance and formability. SS 430 has 16–18% chromium and low carbon (≤ 0.12%), with trace elements such as manganese and silicon. It provides tensile strength of 450–600 MPa, yield strength of 200–300 MPa, and elongation of about 22–28%. It has good performance in mild atmospheric, food, and organic acid environments. The hollow shape aids fabrication efficiency and saves raw material weight in structural applications. SS 430 is ferromagnetic and provides moderate oxidation and corrosion resistance. SS 430 offers good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments but is less resistant than austenitic stainless steels like SS 304 or 316. It is more prone to corrosion in harsh environments, especially those with high chloride content.
SS 430 hollow bars typically range in outer diameters from 20mm to 300mm and wall thicknesses from 2mm to 30mm. Tolerances vary but are generally within ±0.5mm for diameter and ±0.2mm for wall thickness, depending on the manufacturer.
