Chung Metal manufactures high-hardness Stainless Steel 440C Hollow Bars, perfect for pieces that need superior wear resistance and strength. SS 440C is an extremely high carbon martensitic stainless steel capable of achieving very high hardness levels through heat treatment. SS 440C has 16–18% chromium and 0.95–1.20% carbon content. It provides excellent hardness up to 60 HRC following appropriate heat treatment. Its tensile strength is up to 700–1200 MPa, and yield strength is more than 600 MPa. Its elongation is generally low (10–15%) because of its hardness. The hollow profile maintains this strength while conserving material usage. 440C offers moderate corrosion resistance and is utilized best in dry or controlled environments.
