Chung Metal is pleased to supply high-grade Stainless Steel 316L Round Bars/Rods, which is a low-carbon variant of 316 with improved weldability and corrosion resistance. Austenitic stainless bars are well-suited for hostile conditions, such as marine, chemical, and pharmaceutical environments. Chung Metal’s SS 316L round rods are produced with high dimensional precision and in various surface finishes. They offer superior resistance to chlorides, acids, and pitting and are, therefore, ideal for severe corrosive environments. The low carbon content guarantees limited carbide precipitation during welding, with excellent structural integrity in welded constructions.
SS 316L has 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum with low carbon content (≤ 0.03%). This composition offers excellent corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides and reducing acids. It provides tensile strength of 480–620 MPa, yield strength of approximately 170–310 MPa, and elongation of 40–50%. SS 316L is not magnetic in the annealed condition, weldable, and has good toughness even at cryogenic temperatures. It is good in oxidizing and reducing conditions and is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking.
