The low carbon content reduces carbide precipitation, which improves resistance to intergranular corrosion following welding. SS 304L is comprised of 18–20% chromium, 8–12% nickel, and ≤0.03% carbon. It offers tensile strength of 480–700 MPa and yield strength of 170–300 MPa. It is not magnetic, can be welded, and has excellent resistance to pitting and corrosion. The round bar shape accommodates structural and machined components.
