Chung Metal’s Stainless Steel 440C round bars and rods in Da Nang are high-end martensitic stainless steels engineered for optimum hardness, wear life, and edge holding. Our 440C rounds with strict metallurgical controls and heat treatment procedures ensure minimum distortion, consistent microstructure, and stable hardness throughout the cross-section. These grades are suited for customers requiring maximum strength and long service life in friction and wear conditions, e.g., bearings, shafts, blades, or knife parts.
SS 440C is high-carbon (~0.95‑1.20 %) martensitic stainless steel containing ~16‑18 % chromium, minute manganese, silicon, carbon adjusted to achieve maximum hardness. Following quenching and tempering, tensile strengths are usually greater than 900‑1100 MPa; hardness in the HRC 55‑60 range; yield strength ~800‑1000 MPa; low elongation (~8‑15 %) because of the high hardness. Corrosion resistance is moderate — superior to carbon steels but inferior to austenitic grades. Very good wear resistance and capability to retain a sharp edge, but more brittle than more ductile stainless grades.
