Chung Metal produces high-machinability Stainless Steel 416 Round Bars and Rods, a martensitic stainless steel that has been engineered for improved machining properties. SS 416 contains sulfur to enhance chip-breaking and tool life, thus it is the most machinable stainless steel. It offers moderate corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical strength. Round bar form is suitable for turned components, fasteners, and precision-machined items. Chung Metal produces 416 bars in several heat-treated conditions with high dimensional accuracy, straightness, and performance for automation production.
SS 416 has 12–14% chromium, 0.15% carbon, and sulfur added (0.15–0.35%). Its tensile strength is 550–750 MPa and yield strength is 300–600 MPa. SS 416 is magnetic, can be hardened, and has a moderate corrosion resistance. It supports high-speed turning and threading in round shape.
