Chung Metal manufactures strong Stainless Steel 420 Round Bars and Rods, a martensitic stainless steel with high hardness and superior wear resistance. SS 420 can be hardened by heat treatment and is suitable for mechanical parts, cutting tools, and uses involving high strength and polishability. Round bar shape is particularly ideal for shafts, fasteners, and valve parts. SS 420 has 12–14% chromium and a maximum of 0.3–0.4% carbon. It has tensile strength of 700–1000 MPa and yield strength of 500–800 MPa, with a maximum of 50 HRC hardness after heat treatment. It is ferromagnetic and has moderate corrosion resistance. Round bar shape has equi-axial strength and is ideal for accurate machining.
