Depending on the grade, SS round bars have 10–20% chromium, 8–14% nickel, and controlled amounts of carbon and other alloying elements. Austenitic grades such as 304/316 provide high ductility and corrosion resistance, and tensile strengths of 500–700 MPa. Martensitic grades such as 410/420 provide tensile strength of up to 1300 MPa after heat treatment. Round bars possess a good machinability and surface finish. Elongation is usually between 20–45%. Magnetic characteristics are grade-dependent. Chung Metal supplies SS round rods in annealed, hardened, or bright conditions to satisfy various applications.
