Chung Metal produces Aluminium 5086 forgings in Da Nang, Vietnam, for uses requiring excellent corrosion resistance and moderate strength. 5086 is a magnesium alloy with high resistance to seawater and salt spray. Our forging processes produce fine microstructure, precise dimensions, and complete material certification. We supply forgings as per shipbuilding, marine structures, pressure vessels, and architectural installations. Customers rely on our 5086 forgings for durability, weldability, and strength in extreme coastal conditions. Through knowledge in aluminium metallurgy, we provide trouble-free performance in aggressive salt-laden environments.
Aluminium 5086 generally has ~4.0–4.9% magnesium, ~0.4–1.0% manganese, minor chromium, and trace silicon, with the balance aluminium. In alloyed form, tensile strength ~310–355 MPa, yield strength ~215–285 MPa, and elongation ~12–18%. Hardness is moderate. Density ~2.66 g/cm³. It exhibits very good corrosion resistance in sea environments, retains weldability and good fatigue properties. Forging enhances its grain structure and toughness, improving performance over cast or wrought forms in dynamic loading.

Aluminum 5086 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and limited strength at elevated temperatures. It is better suited for marine and structural applications.
Aluminum 5086 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and weldability. It is ideal for marine environments, aerospace applications, and custom forgings requiring durability, lightweight properties, and easy fabrication.
Aluminum 5086's excellent workability enables easy forging, allowing it to maintain strength and formability. However, its susceptibility to cold working requires careful temperature control during forging to prevent cracking.
Aluminium 5086 forgings are utilized for ship hull fittings, bulkheads, decks, and structural brackets in marine applications. Also used in offshore platform parts, fuel and water tanks, and marine hardware exposed to seawater. In automotive use, used in lightweight suspension members and chassis components intended for seashore use. Architectural applications include canopies, external support frames, and coastal building in salt-churned atmospheres. In bridge and coastal infrastructure, 5086 forgings function as structural connectors and components that require strength and corrosion resistance.
