Chung Metal supplies Da Nang, Vietnam-origin Aluminium 6082 forgings for engineering and structural use. 6082 is a high-strength 6xxx alloy well-suited to forging, offering good weldability, strength, and corrosion resistance. Our forging process guarantees precise dimensions, metallurgical integrity, and complete certification. Customers in the aerospace, marine, architecture, and mechanical fabrication sectors use 6082 forgings for their heavier, yet lighter, structural components.
Aluminium 6082 is ~0.6–1.2% magnesium, ~0.7–1.3% silicon, and trace amounts of manganese and copper. Tensile strength of ~310–340 MPa, yield of ~260–300 MPa, elongation of ~8–12% in T6 or T651 temper. Moderate hardness. Density ~2.70 g/cm³. Good formability and weldability, good corrosion resistance, and stable cyclic loading properties. Improved structural integrity and fatigue life of forged pieces.

Forging Aluminum 6082 involves heating the alloy to a specific temperature, applying pressure through hammering or pressing, and shaping it into custom forms. The process improves strength and durability.
Aluminum 6082 is not typically used for high-temperature forging applications. It has good strength and corrosion resistance but lacks the high-temperature stability required for such applications compared to other alloys.
The workability of Aluminum 6082 affects the forging process by enabling good formability at elevated temperatures, allowing for complex shapes. However, it requires precise control to avoid cracking or deformation.
6082 forgings are applied to structural parts, machinery components, marine fittings, auto parts, and architectural supports. Also applied to bridges, frames, brackets, and coupling parts that need good strength and resistance against corrosion. In marine and offshore environments, 6082 is applied in superstructures, supports, and fittings. Its strength, formability, and durability make it suitable for various lightweight structural parts.
