Chung Metal supplies precise Aluminium 6061 forgings, engineered for structural integrity, corrosion resistance, and machinability. Being a widely adaptable heat-treatable alloy, 6061 finds large-scale applications in the engineering, construction, and marine sectors. Our forging processes enhance mechanical qualities by optimizing grain structure and fatigue strength. Aluminium 6061 is the preferred selection for both lightweight structural and functional parts, particularly where welding and strength are needed.
6061 contains 0.8–1.2% magnesium, 0.4–0.8% silicon, trace copper and chromium. Tensile strength in T6 condition is 290–320 MPa; yield strength is 240–270 MPa; elongation 10–17%. Hardness is ~95 HB. Good corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments. Excellent machinability, weldability, and fatigue. Can be heat-treated to enhance performance.

Aluminum 6061 offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, machinability, weldability, and thermal conductivity, making it ideal for custom forgings in aerospace, automotive, and structural applications.
Aluminum 6061 is not ideal for high-temperature forging due to its lower melting point and limited high-temperature strength. It is better suited for structural applications, not extreme heat environments.
Aluminum 6061's workability allows for easier forging, as it has good formability, high strength, and excellent machinability. It requires careful temperature control to avoid cracking during the forging process.
6061 forgings appear in marine hardware, aerospace parts, truck frames, pipeline fittings, structural supports, bicycle frames, and pressure vessels. It is preferred in uses that demand a strong, corrosion-resistant, and weldable alloy. Used in military-grade parts, engine parts, and mechanical assemblies. The anodizing property of the alloy makes it suitable for both technical and aesthetic uses. Used in outdoor infrastructure and utility fittings.
