Chung Metal exports Da Nang, Vietnam’s Aluminium 6083 forgings to structural and architectural applications where strength, weldability, and corrosion resistance are critical. 6083 is a commonly used 6xxx series alloy, ideal for forging into intricate shapes. Our in-house forging plant provides consistent mechanical performance, low defects, and certification. Construction, marine, pressure vessel, and structural industry customers rely on 6083 forgings for long-lasting, light-weight components.
Aluminium 6083 contains ~0.7–1.3% magnesium, ~0.4–1.0% silicon, with small copper, chromium, and manganese. Tensile strength in T6 temper ~280–310 MPa, yield ~260 MPa, elongation ~8–12%. Hardness moderate. Density ~2.68 g/cm³. Good extrudability, weldability, and general corrosion resistance in marine and atmospheric conditions. Grain structure, fatigue strength, and toughness are enhanced by forging.

Yes, Aluminum 6083 can be forged into thin-walled custom shapes, but it requires precise control of temperature, pressure, and tooling due to its relatively high strength and tendency to harden.
Aluminum 6083 has excellent workability, making it ideal for forging. Its high formability allows for intricate shapes with minimal cracking, ensuring smooth, efficient forging processes for complex components.
Aluminum 6083 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications. It has lower strength at elevated temperatures compared to other alloys like 7075, making it unsuitable for such conditions.
6083 forgings are employed in structural frames, marine superstructures, vehicle bodies, masts, pressure vessel components, and architectural fittings. In coastal and marine structures, they find application as supports, railings, and structural fittings. Also applied to transport, rail vehicles, and lightweight structural fittings. Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, weldability, and high strength, 6083 forgings are an appropriate selection for long-lasting structural components.
