Chung Metal provides Aluminium 5083 forgings produced in Da Nang, Vietnam, intended for usage where superior corrosion resistance and fair strength are required. 5083 magnesium aluminium alloy is recognized for its performance in marine and cryogenic environments. Our forging process delivers consistent microstructure, close tolerances, and certification of mechanical and metallurgical properties. We produce forgings such as flanges, rings, and intricate shapes to the specific requirements of the client. Shipbuilding, pressure vessels, and coastal structures rely on our 5083 forgings to get durable, light, and corrosion-resistant parts.
Aluminium 5083 has ~4.0–4.9% magnesium, ~0.4–1.0% manganese, and trace chromium; balance aluminium. In the H116/H321 temper, tensile strength ~300–350 MPa, yield strength ~145–210 MPa, and elongation ~12–18%. Hardness is moderate. Density ~2.66 g/cm³. It has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater and salt spray, good weldability, and formability. Forging refines microstructure and enhances fatigue resistance, so 5083 forgings are stronger and more resistant than cast equivalents to cyclic conditions.

The forging of Aluminum 5083 enhances its corrosion resistance by refining its grain structure, improving its overall strength and resistance to saltwater corrosion, particularly in marine environments.
Aluminum 5083 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and formability, making it ideal for custom forgings in marine, aerospace, and other demanding applications.
Aluminum 5083 offers excellent workability, allowing for easy forging. Its high strength, good corrosion resistance, and moderate formability make it ideal for complex shapes while maintaining durability and structural integrity.
5083 forgings find extensive application in ship hulls, marine structural components, decks, bulkheads, and offshore structures. Also employed for pressure vessels, cryogenic tanks, and LNG containers because of satisfactory low-temperature behavior. Used in automobile and rail for crash structures and light frames. Architectural applications are facades, supports, and roof panels in coastal areas. Also applied in fuel tanks, marine fittings, and corrosion-resistant structural components. Due to its high magnesium level and strength, 5083 is best where there is frequent exposure to moisture and salt.
