Chung Metal offers Aluminium 2024 Forgings for high-strength uses in aerospace, military, and precision engineering. Being a copper alloy, 2024 has superior fatigue resistance as well as strength-to-weight ratio. Our forging process creates more fatigue strength, grain structure, and dimensional tolerances. Aluminium 2024 is heat treatable and suitable for structural and load-bearing applications where dependability under stress is important.
Aluminium 2024 has ~4.4% copper, 1.5% magnesium, 0.6% manganese, and minor elements. Tensile strength in the T4/T6 condition is 420–490 MPa; yield strength 250–350 MPa; elongation 10–15%. Hardness is approximately 120 HB. The alloy is heat-treatable and possesses excellent fatigue life, although corrosion resistance is moderate. Frequently used with alclad coating to enhance durability.
