Chung Metal, one of the leading manufacturers in Đà Nẵng, Vietnam, provides Stainless Steel 416 Bars/Rods, which are known for their exceptionally high machinability compared to all other stainless steel grades. Formulated for high-speed machining and for easy manufacturing, SS 416 is a free-machining martensitic stainless steel with good mechanical properties and average corrosion resistance. Chung Metal manufactures 416 rods in round, hex, and square shapes that are made suitable for CNC machining and screw machining applications. These bars are best suited for creating precision parts with strength, hardness, and economical manufacturing requirements, so they are a favorite among industrial and mechanical engineering applications.
Stainless Steel 416 has around 12–14% chromium, with 0.15% carbon and 0.15–0.35% sulfur to improve machinability. It is a martensitic grade that can be heat treated to produce greater hardness. Its tensile strength varies from 500–700 MPa in the annealed state and can go as high as 800 MPa when it is hardened. Its yield strength is about 275–400 MPa with an elongation of 20–25%. SS 416 is magnetic and provides moderate corrosion resistance in dry or slightly corrosive conditions. Welding is not recommended, but it is very machinable and ideal for turning, milling, and drilling work.

Stainless Steel 416 is a martensitic stainless steel with a higher level of sulfur and carbon content, which enhances its machinability compared to other stainless steels. This alloy offers improved strength and hardness while still maintaining a good level of corrosion resistance, making it suitable for precision machining.
Yes, Stainless Steel 416 can be heat-treated to increase its hardness. It can be hardened through a quenching and tempering process, which improves its strength, making it ideal for applications that require high wear resistance.
Stainless Steel 416 Bars and Rods are commonly used in applications that demand high strength, good corrosion resistance, and excellent machinability. These include the manufacturing of gears, screws, bearings, and other components in industries like automotive, aerospace, and machinery production.
SS 416 rods and bars are used in applications such as valve components, pump shafts, gears, studs, bushings, bolts, and motor shafts. Its high machinability renders it very attractive to automotive, aerospace, electrical, and general mechanical industries for large-volume production of precision-machined parts. It conducts itself well in dry, non-aggressive conditions, providing a good balance between strength and productivity. SS 416 is especially ideal for CNC machining, Swiss-type lathe applications, and screw machine components. Chung Metal provides SS 416 rods in a range of conditions and sizes, engineered for high-performance processing and lasting mechanical properties.
