Chung Metal’s Stainless Steel 446 bars and rods are top‑quality, high‑performance parts designed for harsh conditions. SS 446 is a ferritic stainless steel with high chromium (≥ 23‑27 %) and trace amounts of silicon, manganese, and very low carbon (< 0.20 %). It contains little or no nickel, which keeps it economical. Mechanical properties are tensile strength commonly around 450‑650 MPa, yield strength ~200‑350 MPa, and elongation around 20‑25 %. Hardness (HB) typically between 150‑250 depending on heat treatment. SS 446 has high strength and resists scaling at elevated temperatures at around 800‑900 °C, and provides effective resistance to oxidation and sulfidation.
