Chung Metal’s Stainless Steel 904L rods and bars are super-premium austenitic stainless steel materials ideal for severe corrosion resistance. SS 904L is a low‑carbon, high‑alloy austenitic stainless steel with approximately 25‑28 % chromium, 20‑25 % nickel, 4‑5 % molybdenum, in addition to copper (~1‑2 %) and nitrogen. Carbon is retained very low (<0.02 %) for minimizing sensitization. Mechanical properties commonly comprise tensile strength 500‑700 MPa, yield strength about 200‑300 MPa, and elongation in the range 40‑50 %. Hardness (HB) is in the range 150‑230 HB based on final cold working. It also maintains toughness and is resistant to stress‑corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion even under severe chloride and sulphuric acid conditions.
