Chung Metal, a Vietnam-based company located in Đà Nẵng, specializes in manufacturing and supplying Stainless Steel 420 Bars/Rods with their exceptional hardness and wear resistance. 420 bars are martensitic stainless steel products with superior mechanical properties following heat treatment. Chung Metal manufactures precise dimension 420 rods and smooth finish rods for successful machining and critical usages. With emphasis on quality control and international standards compliance, Chung Metal supplies SS 420 bars to various industries needing high-strength, resistant-to-corrosion material that will work effectively in moderately corrosive and high-wear applications.
Stainless Steel 420 normally has 12–14% chromium and 0.15–0.40% carbon with trace amount of manganese, silicon, and sulfur. It is a martensitic hardenable grade with high tensile strength (1300 MPa in heat-treated condition) and good hardness (50 HRC). The tensile strength in the annealed condition is approximately 655 MPa and yield strength is roughly 345 MPa, with an elongation of approximately 25%. It is magnetic in nature and can be hardened using quenching and tempering, providing very good wear resistance with fair corrosion resistance.

Stainless Steel 420 Bars and Rods are known for their excellent hardness, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. They are a high-carbon steel that can be heat-treated for maximum hardness and are ideal for applications that require strength and durability, such as cutlery, surgical instruments, and valve parts.
Stainless Steel 420 has higher carbon content compared to other grades like 304 or 316, which allows it to be hardened through heat treatment. This makes it particularly suitable for applications that demand high strength, hardness, and wear resistance, although it may not offer the same corrosion resistance as other austenitic grades.
Stainless Steel 420 is commonly used in the manufacturing of cutlery, surgical instruments, automotive components, and valves due to its excellent hardness, strength, and resistance to corrosion.
SS 420 bars and rods find extensive applications where there is a requirement for high surface hardness and moderate resistance to corrosion. These are used in cutlery, surgical equipment, dies, molds, pump shafts, and machine parts. Their suitability for heat treatment to high hardness levels makes them suitable for tools and mechanically wear-resistant parts. Medical, food processing, automotive, and general engineering industries often use SS 420 for components demanding strength and durability. Chung Metal offers these rods of different sizes, conditions, and finishes, as per precision machining and industrial-quality requirements.
